His work bridges science, policy, and practice to promote resilient mountain ecosystems and nature-positive development.
Hamza has authored/co-authored several publications and guidance documents, particularly the Guiding the Future of Linear Infrastructure Development in Snow Leopard Landscapes, and continues to provide global thought leadership on this subject.

Lin Peng, Co-Chair

Lin Peng is a researcher at Chongqing University, China, specializing in the conservation and governance of mountain protected areas and large-scale mountain landscapes. Her work focuses on how the integrity and holistic values of mountain protected landscapes can be maintained in the face of development pressures and rapid environmental and social change.

Her research is centred on major mountain and high-altitude protected landscapes in China, particularly the Giant Panda National Park and the Sanjiangyuan region. She works on protected area systems and governance, conservation conflicts, and the conservation of biocultural diversity and traditional knowledge in mountain regions. Her work connects conservation with spatial planning and governance to support the long-term protection of large, inhabited mountain landscapes.

Lin has published on protected area integrity and authenticity, protected area system planning and optimization, and land-use conflict management. She has also contributed to the third edition of the Encyclopedia of Ecology (Elsevier, 2026). As a Co-Chair of the Mountain Working Group, she works to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between research, policy, planning, and conservation practice.
