Members of the CCSG Transport Working Group will lead the 5th session of the Infrastructure and Nature Webinar Series on Thursday, 19 November. Registration is currently open for participants to join speakers from NGOs, governments, research institutes, and financial institutions to gain insights into existing tools, innovative practices, and future solutions related to the topic of “Balancing Ecological Connectivity and Linear Infrastructure”.

This session addresses urgent actions that are necessary to balance environmental conservation with the unprecedented rate of current and planned development of linear infrastructure (roads, railways, power lines, canals, gas and oil pipelines, etc.), especially in areas of high biodiversity. The webinar will highlight diverse perspectives of practitioners working to avoid and mitigate the impacts of linear infrastructure on the ecological connectivity, the movement of species, and the flow of natural processes. Participants will hear first-hand perspectives on how to align best-practices in the science, policy, and application of sustainable linear infrastructure development that achieve better safeguards to protect the environment while also boosting social and economic well-being.
